Skating for Local Heroes was a great success

Segbroek College did a fantastic fundraiser again! On February 14, 31 students and 2 trainers skated together and raised a record-breaking amount of EUR 3,878. The decorated ice rink, adorned with balloons in the colors of Local Heroes, African fabrics and, of course, the Segbroek flag, set the stage for an incredible event. Over the course of 45 minutes, participants completed a total of 508 laps, each giving their best effort on the ice.

Never before in the more than ten years of skating for Local Heroes has such a large amount been collected. Students Ralph (€295), the Kradoffer family (€355), Dano (€289), and trainers Renze/J.P. (€600) together raised over €1,500. However, the top fundraiser was Yldau, who single-handedly brought in an impressive €511.

Skating trainers Frank and Vera managed the lap stamping and quickly calculated the final amount. At the end of the successful event, principal Remco Vogel, on behalf of Segbroek College, presented the donation check to Jeannine and Jaap de Hoop Scheffer who on behalf of the Local Heroes Foundation were delighted with the contribution.

The funds will go to projects supporting the building of small schools in remote areas in Kenya, furnishing classrooms and dormitories, and purchasing sports equipment in Kenya and South Africa.
