Support for new talent

Together with Local Hero Faith Kipyegon, Local Heroes supports 16 year old athletic talent Dorcas Cherop. Dorcas goes to school in Ainabko, near Eldoret, in Kenya, lives in Lewa Children’s Home and trains as a runner at their Junior Camp (a project also supported by Local Heroes). Her big dream is to follow in Faith’s footsteps and become a successful athlete. With the funds raised by a Dutch secondary school, we are happy to financially support Dorcas’ athletic endeavours and pay for her tuition fees, boarding and meals. Through the efforts of our donors, we look forward to supporting her in the coming years while Dorcas is in school, and to see her realizing her dreams and becoming a role model for other children in disadvantaged communities.

Segbroek College raises EUR 4.000 with ice skating!

On March 18 the ice skating team of the Segbroek College and their coaches, 
led by Jan Pieter Tensen, did a fantastic job. After many laps on the ice  
rink of the Uithof in The Hague, the result of the fundraiser was a whopping
EUR 4.000 for students in Africa through Local Heroes projects. 
What an impressive result!

Faith Kipyegon wins Olympic GOLD in 1500 meters

One of our ‘Local Heroes’, Faith Kipyegon, has once again delivered a phenomenal performance at the Olympic Games. Faith attended the school in Keringet, Kenya, that has been financially supported by our organisation for many years. Faith is an incredible woman, mother, and athlete, and is an inspiration to many. We are proud of her.

Local Heroes bestaat 20 jaar!

In september 2021 is het alweer 20 jaar geleden dat Local Heroes werd opgericht. We zijn bijzonder dankbaar dat we in al die jaren met de steun van onze partners diverse projecten hebben gerealiseerd in verschillende Afrikaanse landen. We gaan met veel plezier op naar de volgende 20 jaar!

Klaslokaal Sisit Primary School in Kenia geopend

Het klaslokaal van de Sisit Primary School, Mbara Kenia is vrijdag 5 maart 2021 officieel geopend. Local Heroes heeft de bouw van dit klaslokaal mede mogelijk gemaakt.
